Be a part of something great! Do you want your child to be fluent in two languages? GISD is implementing a Dual Language Two-Way program beginning the 2017-2018 school year, beginning with Pre-K and Kinder students. The two-way program gives our students the opportunity to learn two languages and become bilingual, biliterate, and bicultural. Interested parents of 2017-2018 Pre-K or Kindergarten students are invited attend an informational meeting on Tuesday, March 28, at 6:30pm at Edison Elementary.
Gainesville High School advanced two teams to the State CX Debate meet, which was held March 16-18 in Austin. Our two teams competed extremely well in the first four preliminary rounds with each team finishing with a 3-1 record (win-loss) and high individual speaker points. Seniors Jenny Liu and Radhika Bhakta were one of the top 16 teams (out of 56) advancing to the final round and earning a State medal.

The GHS Bass Fishing team finishes FIRST at the Texoma Tournament on Feb. 11. The team competed against more than 250 fisherman from 50 West Division schools. Read more...
On Saturday, February 4, 33 GHS Choir Students traveled to Sanger for UIL Solo and Ensemble contest. The students did and excellent job preparing some very difficult classical pieces for our judges. Of the 33 students 23 achieved a 1st division rating (The very best rating) and of those 23 students 18 performed a class 1 solo (the most difficult) and qualified for state.
GISD is proud to announce that Alfredo Moreno, Jenny Liu, and Trevor Hall were name finalists in the QuestBridge National College Match program, and Alfredo Moreno was selected as a full scholarship recipient to Tufts University.
GISD is able to report that each campus within the district has achieved Met Standard, the highest rating schools can earn on the state’s accountability system, and the district as a whole exceeded targets in all four indexes. Congratulations to the students, teachers, and parents on a successful year at GISD!
