  • Edison Spelling Bee Results

    The Scripps Spelling Bee was held at Edison Elementary on Thursday, January 11. To be eligible to compete in the campus competition, these students won their individual class spelling bee in December. Congratulations to all the competitors! 1st place- Peyton McFarlin 2nd place- Julianne Turpen 3rd place -Aubrey Dishman The top three first grade spellers will represent Edison Elementary at the GISD Spelling Bee on January 30, at 10 a.m. at the GISD Administration Building.

  • Perfect Attendance Winner!

    Congratulations to Kourtney Nance, first grade student at Edison Elementary, for winning a new bike! Kourtney, along with 284 other Edison students, maintained perfect attendance during the first six weeks of school. Every day of school is important and we are proud of each and every student and parent for ensuring a successful school year at Edison.

  • December Employee Recognition

    The GISD December Teacher of the Month is Jamie Blumberg. Jamie has been a teacher at Edison Elementary for 10 years. She has taught both kindergarten and first grade throughout this time. Currently, Jamie is a kindergarten teacher in the dual language program. She not only positively impacts her students each and every day, but serves as a mentor and role model for her fellow teachers.The GISD December Employee of the Month is Traci Skinner. Traci is the nurse at Lee Intermediate and has been with the district for 18 years. Traci offers so much more to Lee and to GISD than nursing. She helps the staff and students at Lee physically, emotionally, and socially with her various roles on campus.

  • Learning Ladder Earns Rising Star

    Congratulations to the Lil Leopards Learning Ladder daycare, located inside Edison Elementary. Under the new ownership of Kitie Hermes and Director Sheila Smith, the facility applied for Texas Rising Star provider status and not only achieved it, but was given a 4 Star Texas Rising Star Status, which is a state accreditation for their program.
