What is Talent Search (TS)?
Talent Search, a free academic enrichment program students can join at school, has been assisting students in this area since 1986. It is part of the TRiO Programs, which are funded by the U.S. Department of Education. During the school year, your Talent Search advisors visit your school and meet with participants either in groups or individually.
What is the purpose of Talent Search?
The goal of our program is to partner with the teachers and administration of Gainesville ISD to encourage students to take rigorous classes, graduate from high school and earn a post-secondary certification.
What happens in the Talent Search meetings?
Talent Search advisors conduct workshops and activities that provide students with valuable information – but in fun ways. Not only do students learn about college, careers, study skills, and life skills, they improve their interpersonal skills by interacting with others.
Do you have a successful study plan?
Talent Search shows students how to develop good study habits they’ll use for years to come by providing information on how to study and how to best study for your learning style. We also provide tips on taking the ACT and SAT, practice materials and referrals for test prep.
Are you unsure about how to apply for college?
Talent Search provides hands-on, individualized assistance with the college application process. The program provides application fee waivers for each member, as well as guidance on the over 15 different tasks that must be completed for college enrollment.
Do you need money for college?
Talent Search assists students in finding sources of financial aid. These include local and national scholarships, federal student aid, institutional scholarships and various other student grant applications.
