The Kindergarten students at Edison Elementary were invited the annual ceremony of the marriage of letters Q and U. To add to the excitement, students were invited to attend dressed as a beautiful queen or a handsome quarterback. Each year, the school holds the ceremony, officiated by Dr. Jeff Brasher, and invites all kindergarten students to celebrate the union. The ceremony is a creative way to help these young readers and spellers remember that the letter Q is followed by the letter U, in almost all words to make the "qu" sound.
After the ceremony, the students and teachers dance and have cookies and punch at the reception. This year's bride and groom were Edison teachers Ryan Firth and Kayla Mellinger, who will be celebrating their own marriage in July.
