Gainesville ISD welcomes Ms. Veronica Trujillo Kunschik as the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. Kunschik was recommended to the board by Superintendent Jeff Brasher and approved on December 19 and her first day in the district was January 23.
Kunschik has many strengths that will add value to GISD. “Mrs. Kunschik’s positive energy is contagious. She is always excited and positive about our kids, teachers, and community,” Dr. Jeff Brasher said. “She has the ability to connect with all stakeholders, specifically our Hispanic population.” Kunschik also brings valuable experience working with economically disadvantaged children.
Kunschik has already shown valuable insight, including her experience of supporting teachers and providing professional development to ensure the district is meeting the high student academic needs. Brasher and Kunschik plan to work with this knowledge to launch STEAM curriculum into the district.
“GISD plans on implementing a STEAM program next year and with the curriculum expertise of Mrs. Kunschik, we will launch a highly successful STEAM program for our K-8th grade students,” Brasher said.
Kunschik brings a total of 23 years of professional experience in education with her to GISD, including experience from elementary to collegiate level. In her early profession, she served for 7 years in higher education administration as Athletic Academic Counselor at University of Oklahoma and Senior Woman Administrator at Oral Roberts University. In this professional track, Kunschik worked closely with the NCAA, Big 8 and Mid Continent Conference in compliance of Title XI and Gender Equity and in recruitment and eligibility of student-athletes in higher education. Kunschik then began her secondary and elementary administrative profession in 2007. She served as an elementary administrator for 6 years, middle school administrator for 4 years and a high school administrator for 3 years. She also served as Director of Bilingual/ESL Instruction for Grand Prairie ISD. Kunschik and her husband Daniel have been married for 25 years and have 6 children; Haleigh Kunschik (30) and son-in-law Carlos Kenney, Whitnee Kunschik (28), Danica Faith Kunschik (15), Viviana Joy Kunschik (14), Daniel Van Kunschik II (9) and Victoria Hope Kunschik (6) and one grandchild, Carver Kenney (1).
