Coach Polk will be honoring a GISD Teacher of the Week during football season to show the appreciation the Athletics department has for what our teachers do in the classroom. The teachers must be nominated by their campus Principal and then a committee selects the recipient for the week. Each Teacher of the Week receives a custom football and is recognized at the football game or pep rally that week.
Gainesville Junior High
|Mrs. Wolfenbarger is a 7th grade Texas History teacher at GJHS and one of the hardest working teachers we have on campus. Not only is Mrs. Wolfenbarger teaching Texas History, she has also taken on the role of campus UIL coordinator having already organized one successful virtual meet and planning another for our campus this month. In addition to these duties, she is a mentor to new teachers and also works with our Theater Arts teacher coaching our UIL One Act Play students. She also leads the campus to get groups to be involved in community events. For example, she encouraged and organized staff to get a team together for Depot Days and is our Relay for Life campus contact. Mrs. Wolfenbarger works diligently to make her classroom an inviting, safe place for students and she has made it her mission to have a relationship with each one of her students. Not only are her students engaged and learning, but they're having fun. She is truly one of the most compassionate people we have on campus and shows genuine concern for the needs of her students, their families and our entire staff.|
Lindsay is such an amazing teacher, but she is also an integral part of our community. She can always be counted on to help with any event in which Lee is represented in the community. Specifically, she can always be found leading the charge for our parade floats. She and her husband give of their own time to decorate, store, and drive the float in most of our parades.
Lindsay Dodson is a true example of a teacher that goes above and beyond to help our students, our school, and our community.
W.E. Chalmers Elementary
As the nurse at W.E. Chalmers Elementary, Britni exemplifies a teacher in every way. She is continually teaching our students, parents and staff about how to make healthy choices and how to better manage personal health. She is not only concerned about the physical health of our students, but also their academic and emotional health. Nurse Dulock silently observes the needs of our students and staff and then quietly provides service that goes above and beyond her job related duties. She has also been known to leave baked goodies in the grade level work rooms with a thoughtful note to the teachers, expressing her admiration and love for the wonderful job they do to serve our children. Every year during our annual book fair Nurse Dulock makes a generous monetary donation that allows each teacher to purchase a $5 book. Early on Saturday mornings, Nurse Dulock can be found making the rounds of garage sales all over Cooke County to buy clothes, shoes and coats for students that might have a need.
