The Board of Trustees meets in regular session on the 3rd Monday of the month at 5:00 PM in the board room of the McMurray Administration Office located at 800 S. Morris Street. All Notice of School Board Meetings & School Board Meeting Agendas are posted on the GISD Web Calendar at http://www.gainesvilleisd.org. The board is comprised of seven members elected by place on a rotating basis for three-year terms.
Corey Hardin, President (2nd Term, 2013-present)
Corey Hardin was raised in Gainesville and went through all levels of GISD. Father of one son, Cailin Hardin, who graduated GHS in 2016. He has 2 brothers Charles and Donald Hardin, who were also educated in GISD. He served his country by virtue of the United States Army from 1997-2001. Corey graduated from NCTC's nursing program in 2006 and is currently working as a personal trainer, operating primarily out if Bosco's Gym in Gainesville. He also holds a seat on the Board of Directors for CASA. Corey is a member of Whaley United Methodist Church. "My mission in life is fitness and I hope to be a contributing member of this team of 8 to continue the progress and momentum that is back in the GISD."
Mike Schmitz, VP (3rd Term 2009-present)
Mike is a native of Gainesville who graduated from Gainesville High School in 1970. He has been married for 43 years to Marcia (Hamer) Schmitz (GHS Class of 1973) and they are the parents of two children who both graduated for Gainesville High School. Mike has been involved with the family business, Schmitz Coin Machines for over forty years and is also part owner of Elm Creek Properties. Mike has been active in the Gainesville community for many years having served on numerous city and educational boards and committees.
Doug Wade, Secretary (2nd Term, 2012-present)
Doug Wade was born in Odessa, Texas and graduated from Guymon, Oklahoma as a member of the National Honor Society in 1973. Mr. Wade graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1979 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Technology. Mr. Wade began his professional career as a design engineer with Weber Aircraft in Burbank, California working on the design of passenger seating, galleys, and ejection seats for fighter aircraft. Mr. Wade married his wife Karen while in California before moving to Gainesville. Doug has 3 children Jaymie, Jake and Tyler who all have attended the GISD. Mr. Wade is very active member of the First Baptist Church in Gainesville and serves as a deacon since 1988 and is an active member of the GHS Booster Club. Mr. Wade enjoys serving the community of Gainesville and is delighted to be a GISD Trustee, a member of the Gainesville Parks and Recreation Board.
Mike Rosenberg, Member (3nd Term 2011-present)
Mike attended the GISD for 12 years before graduating GHS in 1967. He has been married to his wife Dot for 35 years. Mike has 2 adult children, Patrick and Sarah. He is a retired Educator.
Will Presson, Member (4th Term 2008-present)
Will was born in Wichita Falls where he is a 1981 graduate of S.H. Rider High School and attended Midwestern State University. He moved to Gainesville in 1996 and was the Chief Appraiser of Cooke County Appraisal District. Mr. Presson has been the managing partner of Merit Advisors since 2002. He has been married to his wife Jennifer for 9 years, they have three children all graduates of GISD, Peyton 2009, Lauren 2009 and Cason 2011. Will has led Coaches Outreach for the past 8 years and an active member of the Gainesville Athletic Booster Club. He is an active member of First Baptist Church and has served as a Deacon since 2003. Will has served on numerous boards and committees and is very active in the Gainesville community. He is serving his third term as a Trustee for GISD.
Phil Neelley, Member (2016-present)
Phil grew up in Andrews, Texas where he graduated from Andrews High School in 1992. He graduated from Texas A&M University in 1996 with a BS in Industrial Distribution. Phil serves on the City of Gainesville Planning & Zoning Commission and has served on the Gainesville City Council in the past. Phil is the President of Trident Process Systems in Gainesville. He is married to Amanda and they have three children.
Marvin Royal, Member (May 2017-present)
Marvin is a 1992 graduate of GHS and is currently the Chief Operating Officer at the Boys & Girls Club. In his time at GHS, Marvin was active in football, basketball, and baseball. Marvin attended Navarro JC, NCTC (Cooke County College) where he played baseball.
Marvin is also a member of Gainesville Kiwanis, an Abigail Arms /CAC Board member , SWAC basketball official, member of the Great Southwest Officials Association - Basketball Officiating, member of the North Texas Basketball Officials Association- High School, and has represented NTBOA as an official at the Texas High School Boys State Championships for 6 years.
Marvin and his wife Keli, a GISD teacher, have 2 daughters: Makenli-6 and Malia-4, who both attend Edison Elementary.
